Did you know that electronic devices like your cell phone are packed with germs? You may be forced to use electronics like tablets as part of your job. In regards to pipe fusion, that device may involve the McElroy DataLogger® 6. As people remain concerned about preventing the spread of COVID-19, it’s important that you clean and disinfect the device properly to minimize the chance of exposure to the virus or other unpleasant germs.
Make sure you’re wearing disposable gloves before getting started and ensure the device is off. To prevent the chances of solution ingress, ensure that all port covers are closed and if you haven’t already done so, remove any cables. You can use a mixture of 30% water and 70% isopropyl alcohol to use as the cleaning solution. As you’re cleaning, do not use paper towels. Instead, stick to cleaning cloths. Although the DataLogger is designed to withstand the elements, do not spray cleaning solution on the device directly. Once you’ve thoroughly cleaned, make sure that everything has properly dried off before you turn the DataLogger back on.
